UPDATE: Rainfall Record Broken 5/10/12

CBS 7 Meteorologist Greg Morgan has confirmed that we have broken the record for rainfall in a day. The old record was 1.47 inches set in 1947. Currently we are pushing 2 inches.

Today's rain has also pushed us over the average rainfall total for the year.

The Odessa American is reportering that a spokeswoman with Odessa Emergency Dispatch said so far there have been 5 calls for water rescue, 7 for stranded motorists.

Midland dispatch is reporting that they are "currently" working 5 total water rescue/stranded motoriest.

CBS 7 crews are responding to several areas of in Midland/Odessa area.

We have crews on the scene at what is being called a “high water rescue” near 31st and Dixie.

We have reports that westbound HWY 80 between east loop 338 and Newell Road is under water.
