Rain and T-Storms Today 08/08/12
Wednesday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
Mostly cloudy skies and rain have been in place this morning. A few locations have picked up measurable rainfall in the northern Permian Basin. It looks like the clouds will break a bit and temperatures will warm into the 90’s this afternoon. As the atmosphere heats up, destabilization will take place and allow storms to initiate along a weak cold front over the northern Permian Basin and Texas Panhandle. Storms will then drift to the SSW through the day and evening.
T-Storms will be possible through Thursday as upper level disturbances move overhead. However, an upper level ridge of high pressure, currently located over the northern Rocky Mountains will move ESE and bring a end to today’s rainy weather pattern. Look for sunny skies and hot temperatures on Friday and Saturday. A few clouds might drift into the area late in the weekend, but will do little to cool temperatures.
