Pecos, TX – A well-known Pecos Pageant, which has been running for at least 50 years is cancelled this summer.
A chamber of commerce official says the 50th annual Pecos Golden Girl Pageant and the Miss Cantaloupe Pageant will not be held this year.
Coordinators say it’s because of the lack of venue; the Pecos High School Auditorium is under construction, which will run through August.
Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD officials say the construction needed to be done when classes were over. The Auditorium work is to include asbestos abatement.
The event is held near the time of the West Texas Pecos Rodeo.
